Jjimjilbang Sauna - A miraculous method for health and beauty

For a long time, Jjimjilbang has become an integral part of the lifestyle of South Koreans and is beloved in many countries worldwide, including Vietnam.

What is Jjimjilbang?

Jjimjilbang is a compound word, composed of Jjimjil (steam) and bang (room). Jjimjilbang (or sometimes written as ‘Jjim jil bang‘) is a Korean sauna. It is a form of therapy aimed at purifying the body through the use of heat combined with various natural elements. Therefore, when mentioning Heat Therapy, many people immediately think of steam rooms.

Korean Jjimjilbang saunas are typically concentrated in urban areas with dense populations. Jjimjilbang can be established on a service floor of an apartment building or a standalone building with 5-7 floors, each floor covering an area of approximately 300 – 500m², or constructed on a floor of a hotel. This healthcare method also reflects the strong sense of community among the South Korean people.

The suitable age for using Jjimjilbang sauna

Korean saunas are suitable for a diverse range of ages, but for young children, an adult still needs to be accompanied when taking a sauna to monitor their health. In particular, Korean-style sauna rooms operate year-round, regardless of weather conditions. This flexibility allows people to visit Jjimjilbangs at any time of their preference.

One of the characteristics of Jjimjilbang saunas is that customers often go in family or friend groups. Therefore, it is an opportunity for you not only to relax but also a chance for close ones to gather, chat, connect emotionally, and rejuvenate together.

The benefits of Jjimjilbang sauna for health and beauty

Perhaps many people are familiar with the Korean sauna model through South Korean films. This is a distinctive cultural gift of this country. In fact, Koreans consider it a secret to maintaining health and beauty

For health

According to a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine, research conducted by a group of scientists in Finland found that individuals who used a sauna at least once a week had a lower risk of death compared to those who did not use a sauna, with a reduction of approximately 22%.

In particular, people who have the habit of going to the sauna about 3-4 times a week can reduce the risk of memory problems. For people with mild or moderate depression, symptoms also improved significantly after 15 minutes/time and a frequency of 5 times/week.

Besides, Jjimjilbang sauna also helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular and respiratory-related conditions.

For beauty

Not only beneficial for health, but the Korean-style sauna also provides beauty benefits. During sauna sessions, the elevated temperature can eliminate bacteria and parasites on the skin, promote the expansion of pores, facilitating the detoxification process, and contribute to skin rejuvenation, as well as improve blood circulation.

Especially, Korean women consider this as a beauty regimen for their physique. The detoxification process also effectively aids in reducing excess fat. Additionally, thanks to the steam in the Korean-style sauna, you also undergo a hair-steaming process. After leaving the Jjimjilbang, your hair will be smoother and shinier.

Volcanic rocks are characterized by high porosity, so they store heat very well. This is because volcanic rocks have many small holes and grooves that help heat circulate easily. When volcanic rocks are heated, they can radiate heat for long periods of time.

The heat from volcanic rocks can help dilate blood vessels, enhance blood circulation, improve issues related to bones and joints, cardiovascular health, blood pressure, and diabetes. Additionally, it clears meridians, restoring energy.

Ganbanyoku Room

The Ganbanyoku Room (Ganban Stone Room) is a type of sauna room that uses ganban stones – a type of stone found in Japan. Ganban stones contain beneficial minerals for health, including germanium, selenium, and lithium

When heated, ganban stones emit far-infrared heat and release negative ions that deeply penetrate the body, helping reduce pain, muscle relaxation, supporting the recovery of soft tissue injuries, reducing inflammation, detoxifying, and improving health.

After steaming Ganbanyoku, you will feel your body light, relaxed, mentally alert, and full of energy.

When heated, Himalaya salt stones release these minerals into the air. These minerals can help improve respiratory, immune, nervous, circulatory, digestive, and endocrine systems, promoting soft and radiant skin.

In addition, the heat from the Himalayan salt also supports cell regeneration, neutralizes acidity, prevents osteoporosis, and promotes strong bones

Moreover, quartz is known to be a stone with strong positive energy, resistant to the influence of negative energy, and may bring luck in life and work. That’s why many people sitting in a quartz stone sauna for 15-20 minutes often feel relaxed and comfortable, filled with positive energy.

The Quartz Room uses heated stones to emit heat, creating a health-friendly environment. The crystals from quartz stones filter the air, removing pollutants and bacteria

Furthermore, the Quartz Room has detoxifying effects, reduces stress, stimulates brain function, enhances mental clarity and concentration, aids in intellectual development, treats pain from rheumatism and fatigue, promotes wound healing, and eliminates toxins.

Color strongly influences human psychology and emotions. When combined with sauna, colors can bring about specific health benefits. The energy of colors is also directly related to specific body parts. Specifically:

The clay particles are spread on the floor, and as the temperature rises, these clay particles will generate negative ions to help detoxify the body through the excretory system. Red clay sauna rooms often use additional packages of materials placed next to the seating or lying areas, serving both decorative purposes and benefiting users by creating a natural and pleasant aroma.
